Piramal’s Rabale facility supports our generic business by developing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. These APIs cater to multiple therapy areas such as Antibacterial, Antifungal, Skeletal Muscle Relaxants, Local Anesthetic, Adrenergic, Anticholinergic, Iron Replenishment, Contraceptive, Antiemetic, and Anticoagulants.
The site R&D team consists of highly qualified scientists and postgraduates from various fields of science, pharmacy, and engineering. Leveraging our chemistry capabilities, they are dedicated to innovating new product development, optimizing costs, and exploring novel routes for generic APIs. Our kilo-lab facility can scale up to batch sizes of 0.5-1 kg.

The facility handles multi-step synthesis, complex chiral chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, carbohydrate synthesis, and studies including solid state, particle size, technology transfer and scale up studies. We have a dedicated lab for hydrogenation experiments with autoclaves.
The facility has expertise in Grignard reactions, Cyanation and Bromination reactions, High-temperature high-pressure reactions, Hydrogenation reactions, Chiral Resolution, Chlorine and HCl gas-based reactions along with other varied chemical reactions.
The analytical R&D facility is equipped with routine and high-end equipment like HPLCs, UPLCs, GCs, GCMS, with segregated areas for GCs and wet analysis. Advanced techniques like LCMS and prep HPLC are available for characterisation of complex APIs. The solid state characterisation laboratory is equipped with equipment like particle size analysers.
The R&D team develops novel/non-infringing process for APIs and is supported by state-of-the-art, best in class, analytical research capabilities.
