Piramal Pharma Limited - Drug Discovery Services, Plot #18, Pharmaceutical Special Economic Zone, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 382 213 (India)
With a 20+ year track record, Piramal Discovery Services in Ahmedabad provides comprehensive discovery services, including discovery chemistry, in-vitro biology, in-vitro ADME, route scouting, and pre-GMP scale-up to pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic customers around the world. We ensure seamless forward integration with our drug substance sites located in the US, Canada, and India, as well as our pre-formulation drug product site.
Delivering comprehensive discovery services, including synthetic chemistry, in-vitro biology, in-vitro ADME, route scouting, and pre-GMP scale-up, we cater to pharmaceutical companies, biotechs, and academic institutions globally. Since our start in 2003, we have grown to a team of over 300 scientists in state-of-the-art laboratories, supporting start-ups and biotech firms.
Our Pre-GMP scale-up lab supports biology and early toxicology studies with a 50 to 200L capacity and a temperature range of -50°C to +150°C. It features pressure vessels up to 10L (75 bar) for hydrogenation and other high-pressure chemistry. Large-scale column chromatography handles loadings up to 2 kilograms. Our team of experienced chemists excels in fit-for-purpose synthesis.
At Piramal Discovery Services, we synthesize compounds, building blocks, scaffolds, and reference standards. Our expertise includes carbohydrates, PROTACs, payload linkers, nucleosides, macrolides, and natural products. Using advanced tools like the Glove Box (MBRAUN), Med Chem Scale flow reactor, and Penn PhD photo reactors, we perform metal-mediated, organometallic, high-pressure, and high-temperature reactions. We specialize in enantiomer separation, asymmetric synthesis, and chiral resolution.
Piramal’s In vitro Biology team supports preclinical drug discovery with biochemical and cellular assay development, hit identification, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization. We specialize in HTS, multiplex assays, primary/secondary functional assays, HCS, and selectivity. Our assays use 96 and 384-well plates for miniaturization and are rigorously validated with tool compounds and QC metrics like signal-to-noise ratio, Z’-prime, uniformity, and reproducibility.
Our advanced In vitro facilities offer comprehensive ADME services to support drug discovery programs. Our capabilities include physicochemical screening, permeability, protein binding, drug metabolism, drug-drug interaction, P-glycoprotein substrate and inhibition, preliminary BCS permeability (non-GLP), and metabolite identification (without structure elucidation).
We extend our services to In vivo biology through a locally certified partner lab adhering to GLP and AAALAC standards. Our capabilities include DMPK, pharmacology, and IND/NDA/ANDA-enabling safety evaluations. These services are provided in collaboration with our local partner, whose labs hold GLP and AAALAC accreditation.
Route Scouting services include custom solutions tailored for scalable routes and rapid access to scaffold structures. We focus on speed and the initial delivery of gram quantities. By streamlining processes and reducing steps for key intermediates, we decrease the timeline for scale-up and reduce the cost of intermediates during early screening. Our proactive approach eliminates chemistry scale-up issues from the critical path during SAR studies, ensuring efficient progress in drug discovery.
We offer chiral purification (gram scale by Super Critical Fluid Chromatography), prep HPLC purification, and impurity isolation and characterization services. Our NMR analysis, including 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and 2D experiments, provides comprehensive structural elucidation. Additionally, our qualitative and quantitative HPLC analysis, along with LCMS analysis using a single quadrupole detector, delivers accurate and reliable results.
Our Pre-GMP scale-up lab supports biology and early toxicology studies with a 50 to 200L capacity and a temperature range of -50°C to +150°C. Featuring pressure vessels up to 10L (up to 75 bar) for hydrogenation and other pressure-dependent chemistry, our facilities enable large-scale column chromatography with loadings of up to 2 kilograms. With a team of experienced chemists, we excel in swiftly generating material through fit-for-purpose synthesis.
